Field notes
Notes
A hand-picked index into the two newsletters and the field guide, for anyone who wants the thinking behind the case studies rather than another one.
The case studies on this site are evidence. This page is where the same thinking shows up before it has a case study attached, or when it never will. Content stays at its canonical home; this is a map, kept current by hand.
AI governance and agentic engineering
- Governing Agentic AI: Guide for Software Organizations: the four-invariant framework (system-of-record protection, read-only defaults, a named human, observability) behind the regulated-lender and Antech case studies, argued as a general standard rather than a story about one engagement.
- Code Is Free Now. Taste Isn’t (Future of Life, Jan 2026): the productivity argument underneath the Antech numbers, written before the case study existed to back it up.
- The Narrow Window: Why Intelligence Must Throttle Up, Not Down (Future of Life, Apr 2026): why I treat agent governance as urgent rather than optional, a civilizational argument for moving deliberately fast, not slow.
- How AGI Reprices Everything Else (Future of Life, Mar 2026): where I think the AI labor market actually breaks, and why platform work outlasts prompt work.
Crypto and custody
- How crypto scammers weaponized Facebook’s broken reporting system to steal my identity while I was hiking Yellowstone (Newsletter, Jul 2025): what identity theft looks like from the inside, and why the custody habits in the crypto case study are not theoretical.
The newsletters, if you want more
- Future of Life covers AI risk, the intelligence explosion, and the long-run future.
- Newsletter (The Bitcoin Consultancy / WalletRecovery.info) covers Bitcoin’s history, finance, and technology, going back further and to a larger subscriber base.
Both are on /projects/ alongside the rest of what I build. If something here overlaps with what you are working on, email heroic@gmail.com.
